Why Doesn’t Tesla Use LiDAR?
An exciting article away from the kerfuffle about charging and electrics. I have lidar in my phone, yet I don't entirely or rarely use it. Which of the big three automakers is working on self-driving options for their vehicles? Will they use only cameras, or will one be an outlier and use lidar? The real-time displays in a Tesla are impressive and sometimes distracting. As the article mentions, mapping and catching up with automobile technology is challenging to provide accurate information. The article mentions outdated mapping. Our children's street was updated a year ago in google maps. Our street hasn't been updated in google maps since 2008.
It will be exciting to see how this technology progresses.

Loyalty Pledge...???
My first take at the headline is, WTF? And, of course, the article doesn't go into any specifics as to the content of the pledge either.
Will it be a loyalty pledge to...
The RNC?
The Republican Party?
To Ronna McDaniel?
A set of yet-to-be-established principles?
A goal for the country's debt reduction?
A goal for tax relief for working Americans?
To save Medicare and Social Security for seniors?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Loyalty pledges are commitments individuals or groups make to demonstrate their allegiance and dedication to a particular cause, organization, or authority figure. These pledges can take many forms, from verbal promises to formal written agreements.
In general, loyalty pledges are intended to create a sense of solidarity and unity among those who make them. They are often used in contexts with a perceived threat to the interests or values of the group or organization, such as during war or political upheaval. By making a loyalty pledge, individuals are signaling their willingness to prioritize the group's or organization's interests over their own personal interests.
Loyalty pledges can be both voluntary and mandatory. For example, in some organizations, employees may be required to sign a loyalty pledge as a condition of employment. Similarly, political parties may require candidates to sign a loyalty pledge to demonstrate their commitment to the party's platform and values.
Critics of loyalty pledges argue that they can be used to stifle dissent and discourage critical thinking. When individuals are required to pledge their loyalty to a particular cause or authority figure, they may feel pressure to conform to group norms and suppress their own opinions or beliefs. This can lead to groupthink and a lack of diversity of thought, ultimately detrimental to the organization or cause in question.
Despite these concerns, loyalty pledges remain common in many organizations and contexts. When used appropriately and with transparency, they can be a powerful tool for building solidarity and creating a shared sense of purpose among group members. However, it is essential for organizations and leaders to be mindful of the potential downsides of loyalty pledges and to ensure that they are not being used to stifle dissent or suppress individual expression.

Why is the following even a news headline?
Why should we care about this has-been politician of yesteryear?
Encounters With Illegals at Southern Border Top 1 Million in FY 2023, Outpacing 2022
And so, why are we sending billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine and ignoring the invasion that is going on at our southern border? Previous estimates for the nearly 1,600 miles of the border wall between Mexico and the United States were $70 billion. With an estimate of 1 million illegal immigrants in the past year we have to wonder how those on the left claimed that there wasn't the money to accomplish that task. However, there are plenty of monies, $112 billion in the past year, to hand out to Ukraine, where we have no direct border security interest. Is it any wonder we don't trust the current administration to have the American people's best interest at heart?
